Remote Print Center requires the following on the client computer:
● .NET framework 4.5: Click for instructions for installing .NET framework.
● Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) operating system component: Click here for instructions for installing MSMQ.
● Port 4545 must be enabled on both the host and client computers: Click here for instructions for manually opening port 4545.
Please note that port 4545 is only used locally. All communication between MarketDirect StoreFront and Remote Print Center is via ports 80/443.
To verify the port is open, at the command prompt, enter netstat -ano. This will display a list of all ports in numerical order. Scroll down and ensure that port 4545 is open.
To enable Remote Print Center (RPC)
1 Go to Administration > Print Shops.
2 Click the name of the Print Shop to assign a remote print center to.
3 Click Edit in the Remote Print Center Enablement field to open the Remote Print Center Enablement page.
4 Select Enable Remote Print Center.
5 Click Download Installer to launch the Opening RpcInstall.msi window.
6 Click Save and specify a folder on the Save As dialog.
7 When the download is complete, click Open to launch the Remote File System MSI installation.
8 Click Next and then read and accept the Software License Agreement.
9 Follow on-screen instructions to install the Remote Print Center.
The RPC installer will automatically list Print Shops that have RPC enabled on the Remote Print Center Enablement page. For backward compatibility, MarketDirect StoreFront supports copy-paste of the installation key only if the installer failed to populate the list of Print Shops.
If for some reason the installer does not
show the list of Print Shops
with RPC enabled, you can complete the following step:
●
Copy the Installation Key from
the Remote Print Center Enablement
page and paste it into the Installation
Key field if prompted for it.
This installation key links to your Print Shop.
You can only use this key at one Print Shop.
You will need to repeat this process to get a unique key for other Print Shops. You can have only one RPC installed for a Print Shop. If you attempt to install
RPC in a print shop that already has RPC installed, the installer will
inform you that RPC is already configured for the Print Shop.
10 On the RPC Registration page:
● In the User Name field enter your administrator user name.
● In the Password field, enter your administrator password.
● From the Printshops pull-down list select the MarketDirect StoreFront Print Shop for which you are installing the RPC.
● Click Load Printshops to load Print Shop details.
● In the Machine Name field enter the name of the computer you are installing RPC on.
If your local MarketDirect StoreFront server name (which you must enter in the Machine Name field during the installation of the Remote Print Center) contains an underscore character (_), then the Remote Print Center will not function correctly. Please edit the server name so that it contains no underscore(s) (_).
● In the Machine IP field enter the network URL address for the computer you are installing RPC on.
11 Click Finish.
If you attempt to install RPC in a Print Shop that already has RPC installed, the installer will inform you that RPC is already configured for the print shop. If the installation was successful, the "RPC registration successful" message box will open.
12 Click OK.
The Fiery JDF Configurator dialog will open. At this point, Remote Print Center (RPC) is installed on your computer and there is no need to configure Fiery JDF at this time. (You can configure MarketDirect StoreFront integration with Fiery JDF later if needed following the steps in the MarketDirect StoreFront - Fiery Integration Administrator Guide.)
13 Click Cancel.
14 Click Yes to confirm the cancellation.
The Fiery JDF Configurator setup will close and Remote Print Center Setup Wizard will report that the RPC installation was successful.
15 Click Finish.
16 You will be prompted to restart your computer to complete the configuration process.
